Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Designer Location: Anacortes, WA (On-site) Contract: 12-month contract with strong likelihood of extension Rate: $55-$75/hour (No per diem; preference for local candidates) Job Overview We are seeking a mid-level to senior Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Designer to support refinery projects and as-built documentation at an operating refinery in Anacortes, WA. This is a full-time, on-site contract role supporting ongoing capital and maintenance projects. The designer will work under the direction of a Lead I&E Designer and manage assigned design tasks independently. Key Responsibilities Perform as-built documentation using existing drawings, field measurements, and verification Develop and update: Instrument layouts Wiring diagrams Electrical schematics Design cable tray layouts, conduit routing, panel arrangements, and connection details Prepare Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and equipment lists Conduct field walkdowns, site verification, and instrument tagging Coordinate with project engineers and other engineering disciplines Review drawings for accuracy and adherence to project scope Support construction, commissioning, and fabrication activities as required Required Qualifications 5-15 years of experience in Instrument & Electrical design (mid to senior level) Prior experience in a refinery or oil & gas environment Proficiency with AutoCAD , SPI / Smart Instrumentation , and Microsoft Office Strong background in instrumentation and electrical design Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and small design projects Active TWIC card required Must be able to work full-time on-site in Anacortes, WA Work Environment On-site refinery setting with a mix of office-based design work and field verification Exposure to active processing units and operational facilities With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Chemicals, Construction & Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining and Manufacturing sectors worldwide.
