$25.20 - $28.98 Schedule: Full-Time Monday - Sunday Flexible Hours
Position Summary The Employment Specialist I supports Sherwood’s
mission by assisting individuals with disabilities in obtaining,
maintaining, and advancing in community-based paid employment and
meaningful relationship building that aligns with their individual
goals. This position facilitates strong, collaborative
relationships among participants, families, Case Resource Managers,
Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, employers, and community
partners to ensure smooth transitions into employment and long-term
success. The Employment Specialist I provides job development,
on-site training, and follow-along support to both participants and
employers, focusing on effective communication, workplace safety,
natural supports, and overcoming barriers to successful job
performance. Requirements: Engage participants and families in
intake, discovery, and assessment processes to identify skills,
interests, and support needs. Develop individualized Career Path
Plans using SMART goals and create employment tools such as video
resumes. Develop and maintain relationships with employers through
job development, marketing, and community outreach. Provide job
coaching, on-site training, follow-along supports, and travel
training as needed. Support employers and coworkers in effective
communication, inclusion, and development of natural workplace
supports. Monitor job performance, gather employer feedback, and
adjust employment service plans as needed. Conduct workplace and
environmental assessments to identify and reduce barriers to
employment success. Maintain regular communication with
participants, families, employers, and referring partners. Ensure
accurate, timely documentation, case notes, and billing within
required timelines. Maintain caseloads, schedules, and compliance
with HIPAA and agency policies. Participate in community events,
trainings, and professional development activities. Qualifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s degree in
human services, Rehabilitation, Psychology, or related field
preferred) Experience working with individuals with disabilities or
in employment support, case management, or human services Strong
interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Ability to
work independently in community-based settings Proficiency with
Microsoft Outlook and electronic documentation systems Valid
driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance
Preferred: Knowledge of supported employment, vocational
rehabilitation, and community-based services Experience with job
development, job coaching, or employer engagement Familiarity with
HIPAA and person-centered planning practices Physical &
Environmental Requirements Ability to travel regularly within the
community Ability to stand, walk, and support participants at job
sites for up to 4 hours Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends as
required
