Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical
experience. 2 years of experience with developing large-scale
infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with
compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture. 2 years of
experience with software development, or 1 year of experience with
an advanced degree in an industry setting. Experience with
distributed computing, distributed databases, and distributed
systems. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in
Computer Science or related technical fields. 2 years of experience
with data structures and algorithms. Experience working with
BigQuery, database, or storage systems. About the job Google's

you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with

technology forward. BigQuery is an exabyte scale cloud-based data
warehouse. It is a multi-tenant system storing exabytes of user
data. BigQuery storage is the component responsible for getting
user data in and out of BigQuery, and how to automatically optimize
its physical shape for scale, speed, and ease of use. Drive the
Metamorphosis of BigQuery into a high-throughput transactional
platform. We will transform how users interact with and manage
their data, by implementing core transactional features, change
history, fine-grained Data Manipulation Language (DML), and Change
Data Capture (CDC) upserts for both Iceberg and native managed
tables, amplified by Vortex. In this role, you will help us build
and deliver a data mutation platform for BigQuery and have a huge
impact on BigQuery, Data Analytics, and GCP. Google Cloud

problems. The US base salary range for this full-time position is
$147,000-$211,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are
determined by role, level, and location. Within the range,
individual pay is determined by work location and additional
factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant

Responsibilities Design and implement storage components to support
large scale streaming ingestion. Design and implement algorithms to
expand BigQuery’s DML capabilities. Design and implement tests and
experiments to evaluate and monitor the performance of the system.
Use the full battery of tools and instrumentation to develop, test,
and rollout features. Coordinate with product engineers in all
parts of the software stack.
