Physician Assistant | Surgery - General/Other Location: Tacoma, WA Employer: VieMed Healthcare Staffing Pay: Competitive weekly pay (inquire for details) Shift Information: Rotating Start Date: ASAP About the Position Join Our Team as a Locum Physician Assistant (PA) in Cardiothoracic Surgery – Tacoma, WA Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant to provide vital surgical support in a dynamic Cardiothoracic Surgery department. This locum opportunity offers the chance to work with a team of experienced surgeons, contribute to complex patient care, and gain valuable experience in both cardiac and thoracic procedures. Required Skills: Valid PA licensure with current certification Proven experience in cardiothoracic or thoracic surgery assisting Competence in pre- and post-operative patient evaluation and management Ability to assist with OR procedures, including coronary artery bypass, valve surgeries, and robotic-assisted thoracic surgeries Proficiency with Epic EMR system Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities Nice to Have Skills: Experience with open radial artery harvest and endoscopic vein harvest Familiarity with minimally invasive valve procedures and VATS Prior exposure to ICU and step-down patient management Experience with emergent procedures on the floor Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s degree or higher in Physician Assistant studies Minimum 2 years of surgical assisting experience, preferably in cardiothoracic settings Prior locum or temporary staffing experience is advantageous Other Requirements: Availability to start as soon as credentialed, ideally by February 7, 2026 Commit to full-time coverage (preferably 4 days/week, with weekend rotations) Willingness to carry a pager for on-call responsibilities, including nights and weekends Ability to work variable hours, including evenings, nights, and extended shifts Credentialing completed within 10 days of start date; no travel outside the region required Earn competitive hourly pay rates, enjoy comprehensive medical benefits, and be supported by a dedicated team committed to your success.
