Job Title: Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: CST OR Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 7a-5:30p, 4-10 hour shifts call Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Must-Have: Orthopedic and endoscopy experience Description: The unit consists of 4 OR suites, typically running 3, and 1 endoscopy suite. The average number of cases per day is 20-21. Required certifications include CST and BLS. Common cases include orthopedic procedures such as hips, knees, shoulders, orthopedic spine, TLIF, hernias, lap chole, OB, GYN, hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, urology, cystoscopy, prostate, ENT, pediatric cases, tubes, tonsils, and adenoids. Experience as a well-rounded CST with 1-2 years is preferred. Robotics experience is not required. There is no house supervisor, but a coordinator is available as needed. A charge nurse is present in the OR to assist with flow and charges. The shift schedule is from 7a-5:30p, consisting of 4-10 hour shifts. Weeknight call requirements are from 5:30p-7a, with a commitment of 4 days a month. Weekend call requires 24-hour availability and at least 1 weekend day a month. The department is closed on major holidays, but on-call may be required as needed. Call response time is expected to be within 30 minutes. Scrub color and dress code will be provided. Unit-specific orientation covers standard fit testing, learning, and a 3-day orientation on ortho, general, and endo procedures. The charting system used is Meditech. This position does not require a BSN. Trauma Level is 3. The care setting is acute. Division is Allied Health.
