Job Description:

Position: Principal Research Engineer (Seattle, WA)

Duties: Develop new statistical models for clinical information extraction

and system error analysis. Lead research and development effort on specific

NLP components. Participate in final product architecture design. Monitor

live performance of Computer Assisted Clinical Documentation Improvement

(CACDI) engine as it goes into production, and develop associated tools.

Manual tuning of rule-based systems. Develop data analysis tools to support re

research activities. Evaluate and report the performance of the core engine fo

for medical fact extraction (SIRE).

Requirements: PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science,

Computational Linguistics, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or

a related field and two (2) years of experience in natural language

processing; or in the alternative, a Master’s degree (or foreign equiv

equivalent) in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Electrical Engin

Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and five (5) years of exper

experience as indicated above.

Also requires demonstrated expertise (DE): performing software development usi

using Java and Python; DE designing and developing within Apache UIMA; DE per

performing scripting using BASH and Unix; and DE performing data modeling usi

using MXL and UML on relational databases.
