Black, Indigenous, People of Color, immigrant, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Success, the Director will oversee the daily operations, customer service, and engagement efforts of the Financial Aid & Veterans Services office, including management of special funding programs such as Veterans Educational benefits, third-party and employer sponsorships, scholarships, and cohort-funded programs.The Director collaborates closely with the Seattle Colleges Executive Director of Financial Aid and other directors, responsible for accurate awarding and reporting of federal and state financial aid funds. The role involves participating in planning, development, and evaluation of student support services related to funding, serving all college stakeholders.The Director supervises professional and classified staff in the office. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with possible evenings and weekends depending on college needs.       • Oversee operational and fiscal activities of the Financial Aid Office and Veterans Benefits Programs, including budgeting and staffing.
      • Prepare federal and state reports and funding requests, collaborating with the Executive Director.
      • Develop equitable awarding policies and packaging plans.
      • Manage Title IV refunds, repayments, and reporting to relevant agencies.
      • Coordinate campus student employment and manage program participation agreements.
      • Ensure compliance with audits and establish default management and financial literacy programs.
      • Build collaborative relationships across college departments.
      • Manage all aspects of the financial aid office aligned with the college's mission and strategic goals.
      • Oversee Veterans Funding and outside agency aid delivery.
      • Establish procedures for outside funding delivery and act as liaison with relevant agencies.
      • Ensure adherence to legal and policy standards.
      • Contribute to transparent decision-making and resource allocation, using data for informed decisions.This description is not exhaustive; all team members are expected to contribute beyond listed responsibilities.What You Bring as a Candidate
        • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
        • At least three years of progressive experience in financial aid at a higher education institution.
        • Experience working with diverse, multicultural student populations, demonstrating leadership and advocacy.
        • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and procedures.
        • Technical skills in student aid databases and data systems.
        • Ability to supervise and build diverse teams.
        • Conflict resolution skills, organizational, and communication skills.
